US-owned ship reports missile strike off Yemen

A US-owned cargo ship has been targeted off the Yemeni port of Aden, the British maritime security firm Ambrey has reported.

to report «iusnews»; A US-owned cargo ship has been targeted off the Yemeni port of Aden, the British maritime security firm Ambrey has reported.

Ambrey said on Monday that the vessel reported a missile attack in the Gulf of Aden and requested military assistance.

Britain’s maritime agency United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) also said it received a call from the ship about 100 miles east of Aden.

A Greece-flagged ship told UKMTO that there was an explosion close to it.

The incident came hours after Yahya Saree, spokesman for Yemen’s armed forces, said in a televised speech that a British ship had been struck by missiles in support for the Palestinian people.

He said the Rubymar bulk carrier suffered extensive damage and was at risk of sinking in the Gulf of Aden.

Yemeni retaliatory strikes in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea will not stop until the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip comes to an end, Saree said.

The Yemeni military has carried out drone and missile attacks on Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since mid-November in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

The US and Britain have responded by conducting airstrikes on targets in Yemen.

Yemenis have since declared US and British ships as legitimate targets.
