to report «iusnews»;The Iranian Navy showcased various military equipment, including indigenous cruise missiles, drones and helicopters, in a ceremony attended by Iran's Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi in the Southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on Sunday.

The navy took delivery of a range of new domestically-developed military equipment at a coastal naval base in the port city of Konarak in Southern Iran.

The Islamic Republic’s military doctrine holds that the country’s armed capability solely serves defensive purposes.

The weapons included the ‘Talayieh’ strategic cruise missile system, the Nasir cruise missile system, the Navy’s first electronic warfare helicopter and the first intelligence gathering chopper, surface-to-surface missile systems, the ‘Sanjar’ smart loitering and suicide drone carried by the Jamaran destroyer, a multipurpose drone system used for electronic warfare, a diver detection system, and the ‘Sirvan’ tug boat used in ports and anchorages.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made substantial headway in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the weaponry sphere.

Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that the country will not hesitate to boost its military capabilities, including its missile and drone power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will never be subject to negotiation.

Iranian military officials praise the country's defense industry sector for its great progress in the past decades, stressing that Tehran has manufactured such advanced defense equipment that the world military powers are vying to gain access to them.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has recently hailed achievements made by Iran’s Navy after the 1979 Islamic Revolution as “remarkable and unbelievable”.

During the event, Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Shahram Irani described Talayieh as a smart cruise missile with a range of over 1,000 kilometers which is capable of changing course during flight and choosing a new target before surprising it.

He added the Nasir cruise missile, with a range of more than 100 kilometers, offers a high destructive force against enemy targets and can be mounted on rocket launching vessels of different classes.

The admiral stated the new helicopters, which have been furnished with a range of electronic warfare systems, have self-protection systems and can deceive various missiles.

The navy’s reconnaissance copters have Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems fitted in. The systems allow the aircraft to undertake both naval combat and civilian maritime missions.
