Eslami stated in a televised interview on Tuesday that the Western Asia region’s biggest radiopharmaceutical center will be established in Iran in the next Iranian calendar year.

As many as 50 homegrown radiopharmaceuticals are currently administered to patients in the country, he continued, adding that some 20 other radiopharmaceuticals are in the clinical research phase.

Iranian officials say Tehran will soon become a production and export hub of pharmaceuticals.

Iran has received “many demands from different countries” to provide them with radiopharmaceuticals. Back in May, Eslami revealed that Iran exported radiopharmaceuticals to nine countries prior to the coronavirus pandemic, and that the exports will return back on track now that the situation has returned to normal.

During the Tuesday interview, the AEOI chief unveiled plans to inaugurate 50 clinics across the country that use plasma technology for the treatment of malignant wounds.
