Ministry: 1,200 Children Still Buried Under Debris

Gaza Ministry of Health Spokesperson Ashraf Al-Qudra on Friday, released updated casualty figures from the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza adding, 1,200 children are still buried under debris in the Palestinian enclave.

to report «iusnews»; Gaza Ministry of Health Spokesperson Ashraf Al-Qudra on Friday, released updated casualty figures from the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza adding, 1,200 children are still buried under debris in the Palestinian enclave.

Al-Qudra said, “at least 9,227 people have been killed since October 7, including 3,826 children and 2,405 women. At least 23,516 people have been wounded”, Al-Jazeera reported.

“Around 2,100 people are still missing in Gaza, including 1,200 children. The vast majority of these people are believed to be dead and buried under rubble,” he added.

He also added that “136 paramedics killed, 25 ambulance vehicles completely destroyed and 126 hospitals and another 50 medical centres targeted” since the start of war.

Referring to Thursday’s limited number of wounded that left through Rafah border crossing, Al-Qudra said, “We need to have at least 800 victims with critical medical conditions to leave Gaza. We cannot medically attend those cases here within Gaza Strip hospitals, already collapsing. In the past few days, we lost many victims who were critically wounded.”

“As we speak, we have lost a dozen of cancer patients simply because the Turkish hospital is out of operation,” he added.

“We call on the president, government and people of Turkey to provide protection to the Turkish hospital, the only hospital catering to cancer patients in Gaza. It is totally out of operation due to the absence of fuel,” he said.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) also said on Friday that nearly 50 of its buildings and assets across Gaza have been impacted, with some being “directly hit”.

“This includes UN schools and buildings being used as shelters, where UNRWA is currently hosting around 700,000 people,” UNRWA said in a post on social media.

Israel waged the bloody war on the Gaza Strip on October 7 after Hamas launched the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity.

Tel Aviv has also imposed a complete siege on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food and water to the more than two million Palestinians living in the coastal sliver.
