to report «iusnews»; Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian pledged revenge for a military advisor of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) martyred in an Israeli airstrike in Syria's Damascus.
Writing on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Amir Abdollahian vowed to retaliate against Israel following the assassination of Brigadier General Seyed Razi Mousavi in Syria.
"Tel Aviv should expect a tough countdown,” he stressed.
The top general was martyred Monday in an Israeli raid in Damascus suburb in Syria, according to a statement from IRGC public relations. He was one of the IRGC's veteran advisers in Syria and a close associate of Tehran’s anti-terror icon Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in a US terror attack in Iraq in January 2020.
Iran maintains an advisory mission in the war-ravaged country at the request of Damascus, helping it in the face of foreign-backed terrorism. Several members of the IRGC have so far been martyred in battle against terrorists in Syria. Israel has been a key supporter of the terrorist groups during the war and has frequently targeted military positions inside Syria.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kana'ani also said in a statement the vicious and cowardly act was another indication of the terrorist nature of the Israeli regime.
"Since its sinister existence, the Zionist regime has committed various kinds of crimes by repeatedly and continuously violating international regulations and norms, and today it has also committed a cowardly and aggressive terrorist act," the spokesperson added.
He emphasized that Iran reserves the right to adopt necessary strategies and give a response to the move in due time and place.
