to report «iusnews»; Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian strongly condemned an attack on an employee of the Tehran’s embassy in Stockholm, and urged the Nordic state to provide safety for diplomatic missions.

The top diplomat asked the Swedish government to adhere to its obligations stipulated in the Vienna Convention concerning the protection of diplomatic missions and staffers.

Five people forced their way into the Iranian embassy in Sweden on Tuesday afternoon before being escorted out, according to the Stockholm police.

Relations between Tehran and Stockholm have soured after Sweden detained Hamid Nouri, a former Iranian official, upon arrival at Stockholm Airport in November 2019 on baseless allegations. He has been put in solitary confinement since his arrest. In July 2022, the former judiciary employee was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Sweden. Iran has dismissed the Swedish court's sentence as illegal and called for Nouri's release.

During a telephone conversation with Amir Abdollahian, temporary charge d'affaires of the Iranian embassy in Sweden, Mohammad Ahmadi said Swedish officials have in meetings and phone calls apologized for the incident, and emphasized Sweden's commitment to maintaining and ensuring the security of the embassy and its staffers under the Vienna Convention.

“Five assailants were captured, and the issue will be followed up until the perpetrators of the attack are convicted," Ahmadi added.
