Iran Sends Another Humanitarian Aid Cargo to War-Stricken Gaza as Bloodbath Continues

Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) Pir-Hossein Kolivand said that Tehran has dispatched its third consignment of humanitarian relief to the people of Gaza who have been under Israel's total blockade and relentless bombardment since October.

to report «iusnews»;  Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) Pir-Hossein Kolivand said that Tehran has dispatched its third consignment of humanitarian relief to the people of Gaza who have been under Israel's total blockade and relentless bombardment since October.

A ship filled with humanitarian aid, -- including food, medical equipment and medications, tents, blankets and other critically needed items -- for Gazans has recently left Iran’s port and passed through the Strait of Hormuz, Kolivand stated on Sunday.

“One shipment had already been sent to Gaza by air and another one via sea, and it is the third consignment of humanitarian aid all of which has been donated by the Iranian people to the oppressed Palestinian nation,” he added.

Israel has been carrying out heavy bombardment across the Gaza Strip since early October, killing more than 27,300 Palestinians, including thousands of children and women, and wounding nearly 67,000 others, and levelling entire neighbourhoods. Thousands more are missing and feared buried under the rubble. Tel Aviv has also imposed a "complete siege" on Gaza, cutting off food, electricity, fuel and water supplies. The move has plunged the blockaded territory into a humanitarian crisis and a massive catastrophe.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently warned that the people in the Palestinian territory are starving to death due to the constraints imposed by Israel on the delivery of humanitarian aid into the enclave and “are right in the middle of a massive catastrophe”, predicting that the death toll from starvation and sickness in coming months could eclipse the number of people killed in Israeli bombardment.

The World Food Program (WFP) has also estimated that 93 percent of the population faces crisis levels of hunger in Gaza.

Figures from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) also showed that of the 600,000 people facing starvation globally, only five percent live outside the besieged strip.

Kolivand stated that Iranians have so far provided IRCS more than 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people in Gaza.
