to report «iusnews»; Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that the Palestinian people should decide for Palestine, its future as well as their fate, adding that Palestine has plans for the post-war phase in the Gaza Strip.
In a meeting with Lebanon’s Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Beirut on Saturday, Amir Abdollahian described Palestinians as “the true owners of Palestine”, stressing they are entitled to decide their destiny.
“We have been informed that they (Palestinians) have political plans and initiatives for the post-war stage,” the minister stated.
US officials have in recent months stressed that Gaza cannot be run by Hamas once the continuing conflict is over. Netanyahu had suggested that Tel Aviv would take control of security in the besieged strip after the war.
Iran has cautioned that the United States is masterminding plots for the post-war era in the enclave, stressing that Washington and Tel Aviv are in no position to make any decisions for the Palestinian people in the blockaded territory.
Israel has been carrying out heavy bombardment across the Gaza Strip since early October, killing nearly 28,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children and women, and wounding more than 68,000 others, and levelling entire neighbourhoods. Thousands more are missing and feared buried under the rubble. Tel Aviv has also imposed a "complete siege" on Gaza, cutting off food, electricity, fuel and water supplies. The move has plunged the blockaded territory into a humanitarian crisis.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Amir Abdollahian underscored that while the developments in the besieged Gaza Strip are moving towards a political solution, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu still sees his survival in war.
The need for collective push to finalize a political solution and end the Zionist regime’s military onslaught and war crimes against Palestinians as soon as possible, the top diplomat underlined.
