to report «iusnews»; Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad said that Damascus has waged several wars against the Zionist regime and is ready for new ones.
At a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Damascus on Sunday, Mekdad once again condemned the presence of US and Turkish military servicemen on Syrian soil, saying the forces have committed crimes and have violated human rights.
Since 2011, Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy, as a result of which Daesh (aka ISIL or ISIS) and other terrorist groups emerged in the country.
Israel frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah which has played a key role in helping the Syrian Army in its fight against foreign-backed terrorists. The Zionist regime has been one of the main supporters of terrorist groups that oppose the democratically-elected government of President Bashar Al-Assad since the foreign-backed militancy erupted in Syria.
The US military has also stationed forces and equipment in the Arab country, with the Pentagon claiming that the deployment is aimed at preventing the oil fields in the area from falling into the hands of Daesh. Damascus, however, asserts that the deployment is aimed at plundering the country's rich resources, calling on foreign occupiers and their mercenaries to leave the war-ravaged country.
Responding to a question about Syria’s plans to counter an increase in Israeli aggression on Syria in recent weeks, Mekdad stated Syria has fought various wars with the Zionist regime over the past 75 years and is ready for another confrontation.
“But this will be Syria that will say where and how this war will be,” he added.
