Voicing concern about the suffering and pain of the people of Gaza caused by the Israeli crimes despite a ceasefire resolution adopted by the UN Security Council, Raisi said, “The Zionist regime does not adhere not only to this resolution but also to any international laws, treaties and covenants, and violating more than 400 international statements and resolutions shows the aggressive, law-breaking and anti-human nature of this regime, which necessitates the serious cooperation of Islamic countries to support the oppressed people of Gaza.”
The Islamic Ummah expects the leaders of the Islamic countries to show a decisive and deterrent action to stop the genocide and crimes of Zionists in Palestine, the Iranian president added, calling for Muslim coordination within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other regional and international organizations to provide relief aid for the people of Gaza.
“In a situation where the American government continues to provide extensive financial and arms support to the criminal Zionist regime, one of the most deterrent and effective ways to force the Zionists to stop committing crimes in Gaza is to completely cut off political and economic relations with this regime,” Raisi stated, his official website reported.
He also emphasized the necessity for cooperation and unity among the Islamic countries in sending humanitarian aids to the Gaza Strip to prevent famine in Palestine, expressing Iran’s readiness for any initiative in this field.
Elsewhere in his comments, the president called for practical steps to strengthen the political, economic and cultural relations between Iran and Turkey.
He also voiced Iran’s readiness to promote cooperation with Turkey in the field of energy, expressing hope that cooperation between the two neighbors would play a role in securing the interests of the two nations and also increasing unity among the Islamic nations.
For his part, Erdogan congratulated the Iranian government and nation on the days of the Divine Feast.
Hailing Iran’s success in holding the recent parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections, the Turkish president reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to implementing the agreements concluded by the Supreme Council of Iran-Turkey Cooperation during the Iranian president’s most recent visit to Turkey.
