to report «iusnews»; At least 110 medical staff in the Gaza Strip have been killed, by Israeli shelling and air raids since October 7, the health ministry said.
The Ministry stated that more than 100 medical staff have been injured, adding, total of 50 ambulances have been targeted, with half of them now rendered non-operational, Al-Jazeera reported.
12 hospitals and 46 primary healthcare clinics have shut down because of damage from bombing or lack of fuel, it added.
The death toll in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli shelling and bombing has exceeded 8,000, the ministry said.
Since the beginning of the armed conflict between Israeli troops and Palestinian groups in Gaza on October 7, the number of wounded people surpassed 19,000.
Meanwhile, Mirjana Spoljaric, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross, said the “tragic loss of so many civilian lives is deplorable”.
“It is unacceptable that civilians have no safe place to go in Gaza amid the massive bombardments, and with a military siege in place there is also no adequate humanitarian response currently possible,” Spoljaric said in a statement.
“This is a catastrophic failing that the world must not tolerate,” Spoljaric added.
“I am shocked by the intolerable level of human suffering and urge the parties to the conflict to deescalate now,” Spoljaric said in a statement, urging the parties to respect international humanitarian law.
Israel has been waging a relentless war against Gaza since October 7, when Hamas resistance movement launched biggest operation against the occupying entity in years. The surprise Palestinian offensive, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, came in response to the regime’s intensified crimes against the Palestinian people.
Tel Aviv has also blocked water, food, and electricity to Gaza, plunging the besieged territory into a humanitarian crisis.
Israel frequently has demanded the eviction of Palestinians from the North of Gaza to the South but also continues to bomb the Southern half of the territory and has even attacked convoys of displaced people trying to comply with its orders.
