A 14-year-old Palestinian child injured earlier this week by Israeli army gunfire in the Nablus-area village of Zawata has died of his wounds, according to the Ministry of Health, WAFA news agency reported.
It said Hamdan Omar Hamdan succumbed to his head wounds sustained on Monday by Israeli army gunfire when he was in a car with his father.
Hamdan is the third to die on Thursday of army gunfire, following the killing of another 14-year-old child in Al-Bireh and a 19-year-old youth in Qalqilya.
The Ministry of Health said 341 Palestinians were killed this year by the Israeli forces, including 133 since October 7.
Palestinian prisoners’ advocacy groups also reported that the Israeli occupation forces detained at least 65 Palestinians in raids across the occupied West Bank on Thursday, including two women, for a total of 1900 since October 7.
The Prisoners’ Commission and the Prisoner’s Society said that most of the detentions were carried out in Ramallah, Bethlehem and Hebron governorates, and they were accompanied by abuse against detainees and their families, threats, collective punishment, and vandalism of homes.
Israel detained around 1900 Palestinians since October 7, the start of the Israeli onslaught on Gaza, and includes those detained at their homes, at checkpoints and those who were forced to turn themselves in after holding members of their families as hostages, said the groups.
Tensions have been high across the West Bank since the fighting broke out on October 7 between Palestinian groups and Israel in Gaza.
