to report «iusnews»; Around 8,000 people are reported missing in the Gaza Strip following Israeli bombardments, the Al-Jazeera television channel reported, citing the enclave’s administration.

The Director for Supply of the Civil Defence in Gaza Mohammad Al-Mughair said on Wednesday most of those missing are believed to be trapped under the rubble of buildings hit in Israeli attacks.

The Northern and Southern areas of the besieged enclave reported the most number of missing people, Al-Mughair said.

He said civil defence workers lack the necessary rescue vehicles that would help them save more lives, adding that many have been damaged by Israeli strikes and shelling.

Al-Mughair also said that rain and other weather conditions in Gaza are exacerbating the suffering of displaced residents.

Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7. The Tel Aviv regime has also imposed a “complete siege” on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques and churches, have been damaged or destroyed in the Israeli offensive.

The Israeli aggression has so far killed at least 18,412 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 50,100 others.
