to report «iusnews»; The son of Hamid Nouri, an Iranian citizen jailed in Sweden on baseless allegations, disclosed that his father is being deprived of medical care for his broken leg.
Stockholm refrains from "providing full medical services" to my father, Majid Nouri told Mizan news agency on Wednesday, adding, "Since we are no longer in contact with him, we do not know why and how the incident happened."
He added that after his father broke his leg, only an X-ray was taken, stating that the Swedish detention center has not allowed a specialist to treat his father, leaving him in this condition for a week.
Emphasizing that his father is under pressure, Majid stressed the Swedish officials do not even pay attention to his father's age and refuse to examine his case.
Relations between Tehran and Stockholm have soured after Sweden detained 62-years-old Nouri upon arrival at Stockholm Airport in November 2019 because of unfounded accusations. He has been put in solitary confinement since his arrest. In July 2022, a former judiciary employee was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Sweden. And a Swedish appeals court in December 2023 upheld the life sentence given to the Iranian citizen despite repeated objections from Tehran that the verdict is politically-motivated.
Iran has dismissed the Swedish court's sentence as "illegal" and called for Nouri's release. Iranian officials have repeatedly called for the immediate release of Nouri, and cautioned Stockholm over the Iranian citizen's prolonged unlawful incarceration.
Majid complained that his family members had been kept in the dark over his father’s condition as Hamid was denied contact with them.
"We cannot even have a simple telephone conversation with my father," Majid said, adding that Stockholm has cut off contact with his father for more than three months.
