to report «iusnews»; Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kana’ani strongly condemned twin bombings in neighboring Pakistan which killed dozens of people a day before elections.

Kana’ani said on Wednesday the purpose of terrorists was to “upset the course of democracy” in Pakistan and “disrupt calm” ahead of elections.

Tehran stands by the Pakistani government and nation, as its friend, neighbor and brother, in safeguarding the process of democracy and fighting against terrorism, the Iranian spokesperson added.

Two bombs in Pakistan’s Southwestern province of Balochistan on Wednesday killed at least 28 people, with dozens more injured. The blasts came a day before elections. The attacks targeted the election offices of political parties in the region.

The Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) group claimed responsibility for the explosions.

Tens of thousands of police and paramilitary forces have already been deployed across Pakistan in a bid to avert attacks after the recent surge in violence.
