to report «iusnews»; Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son on the sidelines of the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
During a meeting in the Swiss city of Geneva on Monday, Amirabdollahian touched on the previous agreement between Iran and Vietnam that aimed to increase the volume of trade cooperation between the two countries to $2 billion.
He stressed the need to expand economic and trade cooperation between the two sides to the level of political, international, and parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
Referring to his previous visit to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, the official termed fifty years of diplomatic relations between the two countries as a valuable asset for the two countries.
The top diplomat expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation and mutual support in international forums and stressed Iran’s willingness to pursue the mutual ties.
Amirabdollahian described the joint economic commission and the political and consular consultative committee between the two countries as good frameworks for advancing bilateral cooperation.
He voiced Iran’s readiness to hold the next meeting of the joint economic cooperation commission.
Iranian Foreign Minister also highlighted the importance of activating the private sector in relations between the two countries, saying that the Islamic Republic sees no restrictions on the development of relations with Vietnam.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Foreign Minister made the comments on the situation in Palestine and Gaza.
Amirabdollahian blamed the US and UK policies in the Red Sea and the attack on Yemen, terming the moves as a determining factor in exacerbating the crisis in the region.
Iran is working in diplomatic and international forums to end the genocide in Gaza and the ongoing war, he underlined.
The Iranian official suggested that an extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of Islamic countries be held in this regard.
Amirabdollahian invited Bui to visit Iran, which was welcomed by his Vietnamese counterpart.
He also called for the necessity of the expansion of the economic cooperation and investment between the two nations, noting that it is necessary to facilitate and provide the conditions to this end.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged their views on cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture, science, and technology as well as strengthening trade cooperation and activating the private sector of the two sides.
For his part, Vietnam's foreign minister described his country's positions on Palestine and Gaza, expressing concern about the Palestinian humanitarian crisis, stressing the need to put an end to the Gaza war.
Bui also emphasized the political solution and immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-torn region.
He expressed his country's readiness to further continue consultations and cooperation with Iran.
