to report «iusnews»; In a letter addressed to academics in Europe and the United States, the Islamic Society of Students’ Union has warned about the current global situation and what it described as the interventionist policies of the United States and its allies. Referring to regional and international developments, including the war in Gaza, interventions in Latin America, and anti-Iranian actions, the letter stressed that the world is on the brink of an unprecedented crisis. The authors called on Western scholars and intellectuals to break their silence in the face of injustice and to stand on the “right side of history,” urging the formation of a resilient front of justice-seeking academics to confront oppression and coercion by what they termed the system of domination.
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
"And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors."
Surah Al-Qasas, Verse 5
The Holy Quran
To the Academia of Europe and America,
Today, at this critical juncture in history, we Iranian students, from the heart of this ancient land and from the depths of our souls, write to you under circumstances where our Islamic Iran, once again, solely for the crimes of seeking independence, freedom, and liberation from exploitation, is once again facing overt and public intervention and conspiracies by the colonialist and hostile governments of the U.S. and the European Troika.
Unfortunately, the arrogant U.S. government, together with its partners, through its full support for the ruthless Zionist regime and its irresponsible actions, has brought the world to the brink of a third world war. The genocide and slaughter of over 18,000 innocent children in Gaza in less than two years, interference in the affairs of Latin American countries, the abduction of the legitimate and elected president of Venezuela, claims of ownership over Greenland, military aggression and the arming of terrorists to kill thousands in Iran—which stands as a clear example of interference in internal affairs and blatant aggression against the land and people of this country—are but a fraction of the crimes of this arrogant system. These crimes do not conform even to existing frameworks of human rights and international law and are condemned even in the most barbaric societies.
The Americans and their allies, in collaboration with terrorist groups such as the Monafeqin (MEK) and Komalah, whose hands were stained with the blood of over 17,000 women, children, and civilians in the early 1980s, and funded by American and European taxpayers, arrogantly devised military plans against Iran. By arming their mercenaries and infiltrators, they aimed to stage a coup and ignite civil war in this country, beheading, burning, and massacring thousands of innocent civilians and military personnel in the streets, akin to ISIS. They showed no mercy even to mosques, schools, universities, banks, administrative centers, and medical facilities, destroying and setting them ablaze.
Yet, we the people of Iran, with our millions-strong presence on the 12th of January, as we have for the past 47 years, once again delivered a firm and decisive response to foreign aggressions, rendering all their sinister plots futile and inflicting upon them a disgraceful defeat.
Now, we have no choice but to decide, once and for all, to rescue the oppressed, the downtrodden, and the dispossessed from the clutches of these insatiable devils, and to change the course of history. It is incumbent upon us, the freedom and justice-seeking members of academia, to heed our consciences in the face of the blatant oppression of these murderers and the international mafia. We must rise, stand on the right side of history, form a front of resistance against the tyranny and bullying of these bloodthirsty capitalists, and stride resolutely on the path of establishing justice. Hand in hand, we must shatter the deadly silence of defunct international organizations so that the wall of oppression and tyranny may crumble by our hands.
