Hamas: Israel Refused All Mediators’ Suggestions to Extend Truce

A Hamas Senior Official Osama Hamdan said on Friday that Israel has been undermining every effort to extend the truce.

to report «iusnews»; A Hamas Senior Official Osama Hamdan said on Friday that Israel has been undermining every effort to extend the truce.

“Every day in the past seven days of the temporary ceasefire, Israel was acting in a way to undermine the whole process,” Hamdan told Al-Jazeera.

“Yesterday night we were talking about extending the temporary ceasefire, we were very clear about some options which were suggested by the mediators – we accepted three suggestions, but all those were rejected by the Israelis,” he added.

“We were and we still are positive about all the efforts, but the Israelis are refusing them,” he said.

Hamas also said on Thursday that Israel refused to take the bodies of three Israelis who were killed in a bombardment of the Gaza Strip while they were being held hostage there.

The pause between Israel and Hamas, which went into effect on November 24, ended on Friday morning.

The truce saw the release of 105 Israeli captives held in Gaza and 240 Palestinian prisoners. The ceasefire had allowed some humanitarian aid into Gaza but the aid supplies were far below what is needed, according to aid workers.

At least 70 people have been killed in renewed Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since the truce expired this morning, according to officials.

Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime's decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.

Tel Aviv also blocked water, food, and electricity to Gaza, plunging the coastal strip into a humanitarian crisis.
